ASMW – Chicken Fried!

Zac Brown Band has been making a name for itself on the music scene the past year burning it up with hits like Chicken Fried that helped the band garner “Best New Artist” at the 2010 Grammys.

According to the Bands Website they’ve been around since at least 2008 when they released their first album “The Foundation”. Chicken Fried was the first single off that album and spent some time at number one on the Billboard country chart.

What I like about this song is simply everything. If you haven’t heard it you need to give a listen to the song that helped set this simple Georgia band running. You can download it today for $0.27 at Amie Street, so what are you waiting for?!?

Ok, so I missed it again by a day, but I’m making it up to you with THIS AWESOME COVER of Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy by Wakey!Wakey! which you can grab for FREE from AmieStreet for a limited time.

Wakey!Wakey! is a group from NY with a very unique sound that makes their work more then worth listening too. The cover of Crazy is pretty amazing as are the rest of the tracks on their Live album. I highly suggest you pick it up today before its gone!

ASMW – Contra by Vampire Weekend

Its funny, but these guys don’t really look like Vampires. In fact, if you had to place them in a category, Paul Simon would come to mind. The second cut on their new album Contra has a very Paul Simon feel to it. Its a fun light listen that anyone who likes that kind of alternative rock (not heavy) sound like Simon is known for (think Diamonds on the soles of her shoes) would definitely like this cut.

Another fun track on their latest album is Run. Its got a catchy beat that you’ll find yourself bobbing your head to whether or not you want to. Follow it up with Horchata and you have a pretty good album to listen to. Check out the track White Sky below and then head over to Amie Street for the rest.

Jack Black Rocks!

Any parent who has made the mistake of watching TV during the day with their Toddler or youngster (as some of the elementary school age might like it) will know, today’s ASMW is a bit different. I know I usually post these on Wednesday (it is after all named Amie Street Music Wednesday) but this hit my inbox and I had to share.

The Black Crowes have released a NEW album and its available on Amie Street! You can currently grab this whole album for $8.45 (better be quick, that’s bound to rise as more people purchase the album) or just the tracks you want. Before the Frost… Until the Freeze is a pretty good album that follows in the Black Crowes previous footsteps of some good Rock and Roll. This is a definite must have for any BC Fan and at $0.42 a song you could include a song in the 5 holiday invitations you’re bound to send out this holiday season.

Free Music Tuesday From AmieStreet!!!

So how about some free music to make your Tuesday even better? Well, here with their new release is Reggae Group Rebelution. Bright Side of Life (monty python anyone?) is a fun reggae disc with some nice sounds. This group has apparently held the number two spot on iTunes behind Marley for a while now and its easy to see why.

Anyways, their free download is Outta Control (no, really, it is!) and the tune in this one is awesome making it a good addition to any reggae lover’s collection. In fact, you should pick up the rest of the disc while you’re there….

Today’s ASMW post is one hot off the presses (as in, it was just released YESTERDAY) by Devonshire surfer/singer-songwriter Ben Howard. From a first listen it seems to be a sort of English Jack Johnson which isn’t bad at all. In fact, one of his songs is already on the AS top 25.

If you’re looking for something to pass the time, every cut on this album would work.

I came across today’s ASMW group by accident as I was strolling through the recommended list on Amie Street and came across the group Minus the Bear. The song in question, Ice Monster, is a fun little ditty on their album Acoustics and it features a good mix of rhythm and lyrics and is a quality addition to any collection.
