An update to Sponsored Tweets – a twitter program you should be using!

I talked about earning with Sponsored Tweets back in November and I’ve been using their site for a while. Through it I’ve made about $35 just by tweeting, something I do anyways every day. I can’t tell you how nice it is to make money doing something I was going to do anyways and I still want to urge you to SIGN UP WITH SPONSORED TWEETS. Its a good way to generate revenue (or if you’re an advertiser to reach a new market) online and its easy.

Today, I wanted to let you know about some of the new “enhancements” that have been made to the sponsored tweets site. Most are for advertisers like the use of ClickForensics to make sure that the click thru’s you’re seeing are legit or the new ability to “Bench” a certain member if you don’t like the results (or if they’ve tweeted too much for you lately). Also added for the Advertisers are some new reports. Advertisers now get a great high level overview of their clicks. This will detail when the clicks happened, how many were considered invalid and more. Invalid clicks won’t show up on the graph, and won’t count towards the total clicks for this opportunity. Advertisers can even drill down and see the referrer for clicks on their offers.

Don’t fret though, Tweeters are also going to see some of the benefits such as a change to the user dashboard that now shows you revenue generated, missed and from referrals right above available posts. They’ve also made a ton of improvements behind the scenes that iron out a ton of bugs and other creepy crawly’s that were bogging the system down.

If you haven’t had the chance yet, stop by SPONSORED TWEETS and sign up today, it costs you nothing as a tweeter and you have everything to gain. If you’re already using Sponsored Tweets, let me know how you’re doing with the program and what you like about it (or hate about it) and we’ll see if we can’t get some more improvements made!

Earn with Sponsored Tweets

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Sponsored Tweets. All opinions are 100% mine.

Picture-26-468x306 I’ve been doing paid blogging of one sort or another for years now. It was only natural that when a good way to make a little extra from twitter came along that I’d do that as well, enter Sponsored Tweets. The process is simple you sign up for sponsored tweets and they send you a message when you have an available opportunity. You log in, write the tweet (or approve it for tweeting) and you sit back and let it do the work for you. The beauty of it is how simple it is.

I’ve been a “publisher” for sponsored tweets for a while and with the occasional sponsored tweet, I’ve managed to earn enough money to buy two lunches. It’s not a lot, but these days, every little bit helps right? The cool thing is that I’m not alone. Some pretty big name twitter users like Kim Kardashian, Bob Vila, Sister Hazel and Leann Rimes use sponsored tweets as well. How cool is that?

Sponsored Tweets is brought to us by IZEA, the people behind SocialSpark and PPP, and there’s a pretty cool API they’ve developed for the program as well that has a bunch of developers working hard to incorporate it in to twitter apps.

If you’ve been looking for a good way to make a little extra from twitter, or maybe you need to get your brand out there on the twittersphere, I’m pretty sure that Sponsored Tweets will work for you!

How can twitter help my website? Lots.

dolphin_robot As a comment on my post about Twitter Wit, someone queried “How can Twitter help my website?” A good question, I thought, and one that I felt needed more then just a reply in a comment field to answer.

Twitter is, to todays blogger or webmaster, what ping, technorati and perhaps even stumbleupon and digg were to webmasters two or three years ago. A quick, easy way to get your site out to the masses. In fact, in a recent piece on 9 Things to do to make sure your next blog post is read by more than your mom, Darren at problogger.net made his first point “Tweet it”. As he sees it:

one of the most effective ways to get a link to a new blog post ‘out there’ is simply to tweet it. Tweeting a link is quick and easy to do – and if you do it well it can be quite effective at both driving direct traffic to a blog post but also in starting other little viral events on other sites

The key here is that you have to have a good following. By following, I don’t mean you need to have a ton of people who haven’t sent out a tweet before or those that all they do is retweet, but good, quality followers to tweet their own stuff as much as they tweet others. If you engage your followers in dialog they’ll be more likely to check your site to see what you’re saying. They’ll also be more likely to retweet or share your post as well among their followers which is something good.

I’ve noticed on this blog, as well as Blackberryhack that a good deal of the traffic I receive is from twitter. It helps getting the word out there. The nice thing about twitter is that not only will people following you see your links, but also anyone searching twitter for a topic. One of the easiest ways to get people to your site is (and it has always been) to post about one of the current trending (hot) topics. Works for search and twitter alike.

Another area twitter can help your site is coming up with topics. I just mentioned the trending topics. On the right side of the twitter page (when you look at your home on twitter) you’ll notice trending topics. If you’re itching for something to write about, chances are good that you can come up with a post or two about the current trending topics (like the LA Fires, Michael Jackson, John and Kate or weight loss pills). Not only will this help provide you with some topics, but you’ll get visitors as well.

This doesn’t happen automatically mind you. You still have to write the content and it has to get posted to twitter. Fortunately, there are plug-ins galore for Wordpress and the other blogging platforms that will do it automagically for you. It is a good idea to retweet it a while later. Change the tag line you use, repost the original, but make sure you have the link in it.

Those are just some of the ways that twitter can help, what are some others?

5 more people to follow on twitter

twitter_follow_me_x Its been a while since I did a post about people to follow on twitter so I thought I’d do another one as I’ve come across some worthy of following…

First up is @thebloggess. Simply because her blog posts are awesome and worth reading (I don’t know how Victor has managed to stay alive) and her twitter posts are equally amusing. For instance, she recently had a feud with William Shatner that resulted in her being blocked and then unblocked by him. Fun stuff and its reassuring to know there is someone out there just a little more messed up then you are…

I don’t own an xBox, I own a wii. However, if I did, I’d be listening (reading?) every tweet this next guy tweets. @majornelson works AT XBOX. Even cooler? He often tweets/posts some codes (with one or two characters missing of course) for the games. Plus, he goes to all the cool conventions and has met @feliciaday in PERSON.

Speaking of @feliciaDay she just happens to be the next person you SHOULD be following on twitter. Cute, just a bit nerdy and one of the greatest minds to ever grace youtube and MSN Video, Felicia is one of the internet’s hottest stars at the moment. She’s part of the brains behind Do YOu want to date my avatar and totally worth the follow!

This next one takes tweeting to the edge of the known universe. @NASA posts news, updates, photos and more relating to space travel and other things nasaish. One of the coolest is their photo of the day where you can find some amazing stuff to use as wallpapers on your computers. Plus, how cool is it to say you’re being followed by NASA?

Lastly, this is for those in the Atlanta area. @bradnitzwsb is one of the weathermen on WSB TV. So far, his weather tweets have been spot on. Even cooler? He replies when you send him a message… making the weather interactive (in a way)

I’m always looking for people to follow (unless they’re bots trying to sell me rv insurance, in which case don’t bother) so if you have someone interesting, let me know.

Twitter Wit!

I love twitter. I love reading things that people like @joeschmitt write. I use it to find new themes from @coolbbthemes or the latest bit of comedy from @thebloggess. I’ve managed to get my wife hooked on it as well, though she generally follows a different group of people then I do (she follows more main stream stars like NKOTB). Imagine my happiness when I learned that Twitter Wit: Brilliance in 140 Characters or Less was out and available.

From the Product Description:

Sometimes, what happens on Twitter shouldn’t stay on Twitter.

Twitter Wit is the first ever compilation of Twitter aphorisms and witticisms, celebrating a medium that has enabled millions of users to broadcast their lives and quips within Twitter’s 140-character limit, thus reinventing wordplay in the tradition of Dorothy Parker and Oscar Wilde. This collection includes hundreds of the most memorable and hilarious tweets to date, demonstrating that inside every moment is a joke waiting to be written.

Everybody’s twittering—from millions of regular folks to world-famous celebrities and writers like Ashton Kutcher, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Silverman, Penn Jillette, Neil Gaiman, Paula Poundstone, Susan Orlean, Russell Brand, Margaret Cho, Stephen Fry, Rainn Wilson, and Diablo Cody—they’re all here, and all of them sharp as stilettos.

Compiled by Nick Douglas, the founding editor of Valleywag, the book is a good collection of some of the best tweets on the web to this point. Sure, some of the ones from the past month or two have slipped by, but this is a pretty good compilation. For example:

I didn’t get where I am today by explaining things to
retards, so either pick a dipping sauce or have your
baby shower at another Chili’s.
- fireland

If anything, this is a really good place to find new and funny people to follow. You can pick Twitter Wit: Brilliance in 140 Characters or Less up at your local Brick and Mortar store or at Amazon where its 26% off at a steal at $9.55. You can also grab it for the Kindle for $9.99 and read it instantly.

dscf0074 It seems like everyother post I’ve done lately is about twitter. Well, thats because the world is atwitter with twitter. New stations (CNN, FOX, Local News), televisions shows (ET) and others are bringing up twitter or commenting about their twitter posts. I’ve been on twitter more and more lately (SocialScope is one of my most used apps on the Blackberry) and I find its fun to read what others are doing daily. Most recently, I posted about WeFollow.com. Well, this post is a suggestion of 10 People that I’m currently following that you should follow as well. So here goes:

  • Zappos CEO Tony If you haven’t ordered from Zappos (and why haven’t you?) you haven’t experienced the MOST AWESOME ONLINE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER. From the service, to the items, Zappos is awesome and Zappos CEO Tony updates twitter regularly. One of my favorite twits of his was when he asked for ideas about helping the economy recover prior to a meeting at the Whitehouse. How cool?
  • WilliamShatner Yes. The Denny Crane is on twitter. He mostly pimps his web show, but he also tweets with regularity. Plus, its Denny Crane.
  • MattCutts is the head of the webspam team at google. For some really good insight and a little heads up on whats going on at the big G, Matt is a good person to follow.
  • NewtGingrich One time Speaker of the House, Gingrich is a noted author, history teacher and conservative voice in today’s political landscape. He’s currently helping to push the FairTax and several other programs which would help the country get back to more conservative roots.
  • PFTompkins Paul F. Tompkins is a comedian. At least, he claims to be one. He host’s the “Best Week Ever” Friday nights on VH1 and most of his tweets are between him and @hodgman but they’re still very entertaining.
  • Mashable Anyone who has ever visited the Mashable site knows how valuable the information there can be. Well, now you can get it via twitter. Never miss a Mashable post again. EVER.
  • RainnWilson Yes, Dwight is on Twitter. Perhaps one of the funniest people on Twitter (even more than Chris Walken) Rainn’s humor is out there.
  • Politifact is the TruthMeter site setup by the St. pete Times and it does a pretty good job of checking political fact from fiction and (in rare form these days) is pretty unbiased.
  • Wil Wheaton Whether or not you liked him on StarTrek TNG, or in Stand By Me, his tweets are pretty entertaining. Plus, he’s written a number of blog posts and books and has some pretty cool things to say. You also get instant geek points for being a follower (double on days he mentions D&D)
  • Guy Kawasaki Founder of AllTop among other tech things, he’s on top of the news and always posts some pretty interesting reads. One of the first “famous” people I began following on Twitter, I’ve read plenty of new stories recommended by Guy.

So those are 10 twits I recommend, You can of course Follow Me for a look at my mundane life. If you have anyone on twitter you’d recommend, let me know, I’m always looking for more people to follow.
