@izea!... on Twitpic">Got a Turkey hat and Tofurky and Gravy Jones soda from <a onclick=@izea!... on Twitpic" align=left style="padding:5px;border:0px;">One of the fun things about blogging and being a “publisher” at this time of year are the awesome seasonal gifts that get sent out from advertisers and companies. This year I was lucky enough to receive a “postie pack” from SocialSpark (IZEA) that contained the kickass Turkey had I’m sporting in the photo (yes, everyone had the chance to wear the hat on Turkey Day, even the cook) and a bottle of Jones Soda Co’s Tofurky and Gravy soda.

Don’t let the name fool you, the soda was in fact every bit as unpleasing to the palate as one would have guessed from the name. I waited to open the soda until everyone had had their fill of turkey and potatoes and green beans and sweet potatoes and we were well in to dessert. Amy’s family had gone home and mine came over for coffee and pie and the Macy’s Tree lighting and I managed to get all three of my nephews to try a bit of the soda.

Normally, these are boys who given the choice between soda (anything with caffeine in it) and anything else will always choose the soda. Well, the Tofurky and Gravy Jones Soda finally gave the boys something to think about.

The soda itself looks a little like thin, bubbly gravy, but it tastes a little fruity with a bit of a turky (tofurky?) flavor to it. One or two sips of the holiday inspired drink were about all anyone could stand to take (I don’t think anyone finished their little cup) and I was surprised when no one asked for seconds.

I think as a novelty the Tofurky and Gravy Jones Soda is a pretty cool idea, but in all practicality, I’ll stick with orange if I want something festive and different when it comes to soda…. If you’ve been lucky enough to try the Tofurky and Gravy blend, let me know what you think. I’d love to know if we’re alone in our opinion.
