Growing pains

Growing_Pains_screenshot1 Well, I’ve gone and done it and you might notice the site loading slower because of it. I’m in the process of redesigning the site. As part of that, I went ahead and upgraded the wordpress install powering it. While it seems to have gone smoothly for the most part, there are some issues. Such as now xcache isn’t working correctly which is resulting in slower load times.

If anyone has any idea how to clear the xcache and start from scratch, please, please, please let me know. I can’t for the life of me figure it out! Oh and stay tuned for the new theme….

Win a review!

Thats right. One way to build up good traffic to your site is to have a review written of your site by a bigger fish. Well, Winning The Web is offering the opportunity to win one of two reviews. The first is an ongoing contest to collect letters and be the first to spell out the phrase. You have the chance to win a review on JohnChow.com (a $400 prize) the second is easier to enter, just comment on winning the web and subscribe to their rss feed. You can win a review on JohnCow.com ($200 prize). Couldn’t be easier could it?

A fight ahead…

Its amazing what can happen when you leapfrog in the polls from the bottom of the pack to the top. Just ask Mike. Mike has recently taken off like a little kid in a toy store in several of the early primary states (Iowa, South Carolina…) and he’s been coming under more and more fire lately from the main stream media and GOP rivals alike (where as it used to be a battle between Romney and Guliani…).

Most of it is good for Huckabee, though it has been bringing more of his past record (taxes, comments, pardons) to light. One of the things it helps do though is it gives him a broader platform to speak from. There’s a saying, “There’s no such thing as bad press” and while its true in some cases, its definitely not the case when it comes to politics (anyone remember Howard Dean’s yell?). It looks like mike could potentially pick up the lead in more states if his early showing is strong (which is good, I like his stance on Taxes and Healthcare).

The thing I’m concerned with is that it appears he may be beatable by the right Democrat. Of course, his biggest threat on their side appears to be Edwards, with Obama and Clinton only having narrow leads over the Arkansas Governor. Either way, it looks like Mike better be ready to fight.
