I didn’t attend my first “rock” concert until I was a Junior in High school. I went with some friends to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at the Omni before they tore the Omni down to build Phillips arena. It was cool. My children however, have attended their first “Rock” concert and they aren’t even five yet. Sunday, we took them to see the DoodleBops.

We’ve taken them to see Sesame Street Live before and Grace has seen several plays/musicals at the Fox and other venues like that (we went to Charlotte to see The Lion King) but this was the first mostly “rock” concert. The girls watched the doodlebops show on Disney for a while but we’ve kind of gotten away from that one. We could sing with the theme song and the Get on the Bus song, but that was about it.

Emma liked the colors and sounds (I think) and Grace was a little tired through most of it (a lot of the little children at the show were by the end) but she liked it all the same. It was a fun and energetic show and I think that if they were more enthusiastic watchers of the show, the concert would have been a bigger hit. Afterwards, we walked through the park and made our way over to Ikea where we managed to spend $60 on stuff we’re not quite sure of but it looks cool.
