Thursday Thirteen - 13 reasons I Heart Huckabee!

Thirteen Reasons I Heart Huckabee!!
In no particular order…

  1. He Supports the FairTax - thats right. A candidate who actually supports the fair tax. HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS THAT?? Mike is for removing the IRS and instituting the fairtax. Something that would benefit EVERYONE and not just the super rich or super poor for once.
  2. He can rock out on the Bass Guitar. - I’ll let this one speak for itself… :)

  3. His wife has gone 2 for 3 with a grenade launcher, jumped out of an airplane, flown in an F-16 and shot an MP5 submachine gun. What have the other candidate’s spouses done (besides set the US up for one of the greatest terrorist attacks in the history of the country).
  4. He wants to make health care better. Not by making it a government program but by fixing what is wrong.

by reforming medical liability; adopting electronic record keeping; making health insurance more portable from one job to another; expanding health savings accounts to everyone, not just those with high deductibles; and making health insurance tax deductible for individuals and families as it now is for businesses. Low income families would get tax credits instead of deductions. We don’t need all the government controls that would inevitably come with universal health care. When I’m President, Americans will have more control of their health care options, not less.

  5. He wants to Improve Education not by more government intrusion, but through working with the states to improve the quality and not quantity of education. Mike believes that music and art should play important parts in every education and he wants to base the success of schools on actual academic results and not how much they’re spending per student.
  6. He knows what he believes in and he stands for it. He believes “Our nation was birthed in a spirit of faith - not a prescriptive faith telling us how or whether to believe, but acknowledging a providence that pervades our world.”
  7. He believes in right to life. While this isn’t a die hard issue for me (I’m much more concerned with taxes, health care and protecting our country) its important for a lot of voters. Thompson might have received the NRTL endorsement this week, but I believe Mike will fight for the right to life the hardest out of any of the candidates.
  8. Chuck Norris Supports Huckabee. I could really stop the list here, but if Walker, Texas Ranger and his fists of death support Mike, shouldn’t we all??
  9. Securing our Borders. Mike wants to Secure our borders to stem the flow of illegal immigrants to the country. He doesn’t believe in amnesty for those here against the law and he wants to do something about it.
  10. He’ll fight to protect our right to Arm Bears. Wait. I mean bare arms. Mike’s a staunch supporter of the Second Ammendment and all it means to America. He’s the only candidate to consistantly fight for the rights of gun owners and protected gun manufacturers from frivolous law suits. Plus he was the FIRST govenor in the country to have a concealed handgun license.
  11. He’ll work towards energy Independence - What does that mean? It means no more leaning on foreign oil for our oil. It means being able to take care of ourselves and not having to worry about the nutter in the third world country who supplies oil for our SUVs. It also means finding new viable energy sources and ways to fuel cars, power and other things like Hybrid engines, wind turbines and more power plants. And he plans to have it done by the beginning of his second term in office.
  12. He supports the efforts to Protect us from Al Qaeda in Iraq and Around the world - This in itself is one of the biggest things Mike has going and one of the main reasons I haven’t looked at Ron Paul yet. Huckabee is willing to go the distance to secure the Country against threats from hostile forces. Something few of the other candidates are willing to do.
  13. He’s picked up in the latest polls in Iowa to move in to second position in the GOP race there behind Romney. Chuck Norris Supports Him. His wife went 2 for 3 with a grenade launcher. The man just rocks.

Nice. Have you seen his quote about the movie?

From imdb.com: Arkansas Governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee did not care for the movie, stating “It was as if somebody forgot to give the actors a script and said, for the next two hours, just go out there and do something.”

He seems like a nice guy. I’ll be voting for John Edwards, but I saw Huckabee on “Real Time” and he seemed really nice.

Well, as a former student of martial arts, I will say that Chuck is cool, but I don’t understand why his endorsement is a big deal anymore than why George Clooney’s is a big deal for someone else. :???:

Anyway, I didn’t really know anything about Huckabee because — well — I’m a liberal Independent and he didn’t come under my radar. However, I admit that I’ve learned some interesting things about his platform through this list. I happen to agree with his stance on immigration/securing the border and I like what he said about faith. I think his record on education is promising. Some of his tax and health care ideas might work, but he loses me on his stands on abortion, marriage, and Iraq — which is not to say that I don’t agree with him about the War on Terror, which I believe is something separate and he doesn’t. There are other things on his site that I like and dislike too.

Anyway, I’ll be curious to see if he becomes the Republican nominee as at the moment, I’m not fond of the forerunners for the Democrats. I appreciate this opportunity to expand my mind a bit.

I’ve found that if I try to find a candidate who I agree with every position on, I’ll be looking for ever. I’ve picked the ones that are important to me (taxes, terror…) and find the candidate that matches the best.

I don’t necessarily agree with Mikes stand on Marriage but thats too hot a topic and abortion is another one I don’t go near…

If we get rid of all taxes then we can go back to the 19th century completely and let useless sick and poor people starve to death.

I’m not sure how the fact that some actor likes him is the slightest indication that he will be able to manage the nation’s economy, any moret than what his wife can do. They are both irrelevances.

I saw Huckabee on Real Time and he seemed a nice man, but h does belong to another century.

If you believe that the fairtax gets rid of all taxes and leaves the government unfunded then you have a lot of reading to do. I suggest you visit The FairTax site to find out more about it. Basically it repeals the amendment to the constitution that allows for the income tax. It changes the structure of the IRS and the current tax system to an embedded sales tax on any GOODs sold in the US. The embedded tax is something that actually currently exists in most goods manufactured today to help employers cover payroll taxes.

Its a good system. Under the fair tax, people who don’t want to pay taxes wouldn’t need to. They just wouldn’t be able to shop. Its way better than the current system where 33% of my paycheck goes to the government before I even get to see it.

I have been quite impressed with Huckabee, and I am excited because I have noticed that he is starting to gain some momentum. He seems like a good candidate to get behind.
