I bought in to the hype of BlogRush like many others in the blogosphere did including bigger names like John Chow and Darren Rowse @ problogger and like many I’ve been wondering if Blogrush can deliver on its promises. Despite the fact that they have the new “dashboard” and reports up and running, there doesn’t seem to be much rush going on from the other blogs on the network.
If you look at the stats for the last 12 posts on my blog (which isn’t even an accurate list) you can tell that despite the number of impressions on other blogs, the click rate or “readers” is unbelievably low. One of the reasons behind this may be the category I had selected for my blog “Personal:Other”. It appears that many of the blogs listed in this category are non-us blogs, or at least blogs where the authors speak poor english and have problems putting coherent sentences together. I’ve changed the category to Personal: Diary, we’ll see if that makes a difference, but I doubt it.
One of the other factors could be the titles on the posts I’m writing. Looking at the stats the ones with the interesting titles (Card Me? for instance) seem to be getting the brunt of the “reads”. Of course, three reads out of 1,200 “syndications” sucks. I’ve had better luck using thoof or digg to get word out about posts.
I did move the widget up on the sidebar in an effort to raise more awareness of it, and I tend to hit a link on it ever so often if I come across one I like. The problem seems to be that everyone rushed to add this to their sites because the creator promised huge traffic increases. So far blogrush seems not to have delivered on it promise. We’ll see if the change of the category as well as a change in the way I title my posts has any affect on the “rush” of traffic I see from BlogRush.
Are you using blogrush on your site? If so, what do your stats look like. I’d be interested to know if they match mine or are better and what you’re doing to maximize your “syndication”.

The stats on mine look just as paltry, and I’ve seen very little traffic come from blogrush. I have, however, found some interesting blogs by clicking on the stories that show up in their gadget. As far as garnering more readers, Thoof has been the leader out of all the options I’ve implemented….

When I logged in today, I realized my categories were not checked anymore. I had my blog set at “Other” also, and changed it today to “Personal Diary.” I was seeing the same type of blogs as you were.
Traffic hasn’t been a “RUSH” AT ALL! My biggest syndicated post is 46,143 with only 8 readers. This isn’t what I thought it would be at all, but I do enjoy clicking through and finding new blogs to read.
Hopefully others will start doing the same!

Thats not even one tenth of one percent. Thats a fairly lousy return (not that it cost anything). If their model is going to work though, then blog owners are going to have to start clicking through and reading some of the links on their widgets like you and gruntled do.

I left the link above to the post I wrote on October 10th about BlogRush. I make the point you make that bloggers are going to have to start clicking on the darn thing if we expect it to work. We can’t kind ourselves into thinking that many non-blogger even read blogs.

I had posted on my blog that I loved it. I thought it was great and at first it was on the top five for traffic generation… Now it’s number 12. I have used it to see other blogs but half the time when I do, bloggers don’t even have the widget displayed. Something doesn’t seem right about that.
I emailed them to ask about it… no response yet.

I just added the blogrush so I can’t tell you much about it.
I will keep an eye on this post though…

Yea, I try and click on ones I’ve thought would be interesting and its led to some great posts. That was after I changed my blog category. They really really need a way to specify more than one category. Even PPP lets us pick up to four…. and I could pick a ton more than that as well.
Well, let us know what they say. I still haven’t seen a huge increase in the amount of traffic I’ve received from their widget….
What kind (if any) of numbers are you seeing? I know I came across your blog from a link in my widget so thats at least one hit for mamalicious!
