With the current comment contest going on here I thought a post I came across over at problogger would benefit everyone. Darren’s post on how to get your comments noticed was targeted at those people who comment on “popular” blogs and not necessarily DoG, but I thought it was fitting. Some of the points he brings up are really good such as “ask questions”, which gets the other readers involved and leaving helpful links. I would argue though, that the links need to be on topic with the post you’re commenting under. I really don’t need a link to elevator service companies when we’re talking about the weather in spain.

I’ve found a good way to get involved is to try and reply as well once my comment has received a reply. It means my inbox is a little more filled with notices from sites I commented on, but its good to keep the communication going.

On the other hand, there are things you can do to Hurt your blog as well.

When done right, ads placed on the big G’s ad network can bring in a ton of traffic. Of course, the other side of that is that they can quickly be a drain on the bank account as well. You have got to be kidding me. Amy hit several of the post-halloween sales this past weekend and lucky for the WHOLE family, she came away with some pretty cool looking costumes for next year. Lumi gets to go as Shrek (you can totally tell by his demeanor that he’s thrilled), emma is going to be Dorothy, Grace is glenda the good witch, amy gets to go as the wicked witch (Insert witch joke here) and I, lucky me, get to go as the tinman. Did you know, by the way, that Bert Lahr who played the Lion was originally supposed to be the tinman, but he was alergic to the paint they used to make him tin?

Anyway, you know my feelings on dressing up for halloween (I went as a dad this year) and I think that lumi shares my feelings. Look at his face!

We also dressed Emma up on Sunday in the same debil costume amy wore when she was around emma’s age. You can tell by the glare in her eyes, that this costume was a perfect fit for her. We had told her to make sweet eyes, but they came out more threatening than anything else. I’m going to have to keep my eyes on that one, I am.

I’ve written about the iPhone before and if it were supported by AT&T’s wireless business devision and if it were a practicle business phone, I’d gladly hand over my blackberry for one. Amy’s looking to get an iPhone for Christmas (we’ll have to see about that one…) and if she does, I know where she can turn for some kickin iPhone wallpapers. iphoneatmo.com is a really good site when it comes to downloading some quality wallpapers for your iPhone.
