w00t. I’ve finally found a plugin to list the top contributors the way they need to be done. The cool thing is that it also resets the count monthly (though that and a number of other options can be changed by editing the config section in the PHP code). Show Top Commentators by Jeffrey Strain works well and it was a simple matter of dropping the script in to the plugin folder and activating it. Once done, I placed the code in my side bar and it was off and running. How sweet it is!
One of the nice things is that he also has a list of modified scripts on the page that are set up for running as a widget (something I stay away from here). If you’re looking for a good way to list your top contributors each month, check his plugin out!

I was wondering what top commenter plugin you were using. I’m tempted to use it as well, but I like that my rank one allows me to give people ranks based on post count.
It has some flaws though, like it doesn’t recognize a commenter by email but by name which results in people with the same name sharing the same rank, and the creator hasn’t updated it yet to fix those.

That shouldn’t be too hard to correct. Its just a matter of changing one of the mysql calls.

Huh, I might have to open up the plugin and see if I can’t puzzle it out then. Something tells me though that I’ll be hitting the forum boards going “nowwhatdoIdo?!”

That is definitely a neat plugin! Especially in your case since you are doing the contests! Makes it easier on you! But, I don’t use wordpress so it’s no use to me.
