That’s a really cool list. Latin: “Ave.” Though, oddly enough, the Romans didn’t have words for “yes” and “no.” I will try out some of those, though I’m too old to pull off “surfer.”

We have some GORGEOUS seasonal photos at ours….

That’s interesting, I didn’t realize that the Romans didn’t have a word for ‘yes’ and ‘no’. That seems odd though, because for example, during the Christian persecutions, Pliny developed a test to divine whether or not the accused were truly Christian and not just accused by someone who wanted them gone. The Romans knew that the true Christians would not forswear their religion ( this was during the age of the Martyrs ;) ) so they would be asked three times if they were Christian and if they said three times “yes” then the penalty was death, usually in the Circus Maximus (until the Coliseum was built) or if they were Roman citizens then they got to die by the sword.

So that makes me wonder how exactly the accused either denied or affirmed their religious affiliation.

I will try out some of those, though I’m too old to pull off “surfer.”

Ah hey now, you’re never too old. ;)

That was pretty cool. Thanks damozel. As far as not including Japanese, I took two years of it in high school and I’m trying to desperately forget what I learned as I pick up bits of spanish here and there.

    Of course I included 1337 speek. I’m 1337 yo.

Why would you not want to remember and retain that beautiful language? Here I am trying to finish learning it and you’re forgetting it? Not fair. :( As for Spanish, eh well, I grew up speaking/hearing it. That about says it all.

I’m struggling with Spanish now and trying to decide if it’d really benefit me to actually pursue it outside of my required class…and of course if I’ll actually have the time to.

Spanish is the one language I wish I had taken now. It would have helped me soooo much when I go to Home Depot these days…. :)

Hahaha well I work at Lowe’s so yeah….

The thing is, as we’ve all discussed a lot, high school and college courses just aren’t designed in a way that taking the required courses actually gives you any decent comprehension. They’re little memorization classes; if you happen to retain a decent amount, you’re lucky.

    Jade’s last blog post..Boys.
