With out a doubt, Wordpress is one of the most popular blogging platforms around. Its free. Its fairly easy to use and customize and there are a ton of plugins for use with it. Now, going one step farther, there’s a book for those of us who are less than technically inclined. WordPress For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))
seeks to take the guess work out of setting up a blog and it cover such topics as:
- Personalize WordPress Settings
- Understand common template tags
- Manage and moderate comments
- Deal with comment and trackback spam
- Troubleshoot common problems
- Sign up for, set up and use a hosted blog at WordPress.com
- Download, install, set up and use WordPress on your own web hosting account
- Find, download, install and manage WordPress plugins
- Learn and understand the “Loop”
- Learn the ins and outs of simple template tags and theme creation
- Download, install, configure, set up and use the WordPress MU software to create your own blog community/network
- ….and MORE
The book is due out next week and should be on shelves shortly after. Or you can order it at Amazon.com and get it when it comes out.

Well it figures that this book would have to come eventually. If I still used wordpress then I would definitely be interested in getting this book. When I used wordpress I couldn’t even figure out the templates properly! haha So I just use serendipity right now which I’m happy with. But, I’m sure this book is going to sell a lot!

I’m actually surprised that it took this long for the book to come out. There is already a blogging for dummies I believe. I remember seeing a book about blogging at Barnes & Noble, opening it up, and being surprised but giddy at seeing blogs I visit used as examples, such as Beccary.
I’ve got a better handle on WP now, but I will definately still be picking up the book none the less. I suspect that I might find quite a few helpful explanations and confusing things spelled out for me in layman’s terms. If not, well, it’ll make a great business expense.

But yes, there does seem to be a Dummies book for everything, or just about anyway.
