No G-Strings or Cheese in a Can? How am I supposed to celebrate New Years?

Monday Headlines…

I was perusing the headlines at CNN.com this morning and several among them leaped out at me…

Ok, that last one isn’t too suprising considering their go at it last year. However, the fact that it was the Rockies vs. The Diamond Backs and the Indians vs. the Red Sox… What the hell has happened to MLB? None of the heavy teams (except the red sox) were even contenders this year in the play offs (well, the Phillies were I believe weren’t they?) Where were the Yankees? (Wait, they were out after the first round of play offs). What about the Braves? (Oh, right, they were above 500, but still 3 or 4 games out of the play offs). WTF has happened to MLB?

Also, who gives a shite if Dumbledore is/was gay? Does it really matter? In the article, rowling talks about his love of Gellert Grindelwald. As thats the only reference to Dumbledore ever being “attracted” to anyone else, I really have to question if he was gay or if JK was just trying to stir the muck and sell more books.

The article I liked was the Man killed in monkey attack. It was ‘a senior government official’ in India who was attacked at his home and he actually died from injuries from a fall. Apparently the monkeys are a problem in New Delhi, where the local religion believes they’re a rendition of a god. Its a little odd but if people would stop feeding the monkey’s they’d go away. Of course a .22 calibre rifle would take care of the issue as well…

I don’t really care about baseball, but I was surprised with the same two articles as well. Now I’m going to have to go back and re-read the Harry Potter books. I had noticed Dumbledore didn’t really have a relationship, but I never though, “Hmmm… he must be gay.” For all that she was willing to stir up controversy with her books, I’m a little skeptical that she didn’t outright include it in the books themselves.
And the monkeys? I’m not even sure what to say about those!

haha Dumbledore is gay. he is more than likely a Catholic Priest and gave it to Hairy in the bum or not who knows. At any rate, I’m sure that just said that just the get the Christian folk going again about her books. You know to get more sales. Also, anyone that knows anything about modern witches and witchcraft in general knows that the instant spells that are portrayed in Hairy Potter are not true, and they don’t fly around on brooms.

I was actually irritated that she went and said Dumbledore was gay. Not for the fact of being gay, I could care less about that. But because of the fact that there was no references to any feelings of romantic love between him and Grindelwald. Seriously, I think she said it so that she would get more publicity. Of course, it is working because when that first came out that was all I was reading. haha I didn’t catch the monkeys..come on..if they are attacking people and that big of a problem, do something about it. Is it wrong that I giggle at the mental image of monkey gangs?

Hm, well as I mentioned on my blog, I don’t necessarily think she did it for publicity. Because one, there were some ambiguous hints in the last book that could be interpreted however the reader saw fit, and two the manner in which she said it and her reaction to the question make it seem as if she honestly thought people had picked up on this already. =/

On top of this, the “revelation” that made waves was actually an afterschock since she had already spelled out the sexuality of Dumbledore to the movie director when he attempted to incorporate a love interest for Dumbledore in the sixth movie. She told him Dumbledore was gay and not to give him a female love interest for the sake of the movie.

But in all honesty, I don’t see why people outside of the fandom are so worked up over this. He’s a fictional character for crying out loud. Now people like O’Reiley are saying the HP books are recruitment material for children into the “homosexual lifestyle”. Do these people even realize how stupid they sound?
