Loading ...In order to boost participation here at Delusions Of Grandeur, we (and by we, I mean me) are having a contest for the rest of the month. In the 12 or so days that are left, the visitor with the most GOOD (which is entirely subjective and up to me) comments will receive a $30 gift certificate to Amazon.com on November 1st (so you have through midnight on October 31st). All you have to do to win is visit the site often and make good comments (by good comments, I mean more than “good post” type comments). Should be easy enough. No?

These are always a good idea but I fear there will be more spam comments than anything because even though you state what constitutes a good comment, some will still swing through just to rack up the comment numbers and slap in a good post. Why? Because they don’t care.

I just commented on another blog about how great of an idea this is. It’s good to get your readers more involved and this is a super idea in getting participation from regular, as well as, unregular readers. I might have to steal it.

Yea, and I thought of that before I decided to throw the contest out there. Akismet Spam control has done an outstanding job so far and the comments are moderated (I have to approve them) before they are posted so I hope to keep that to a minimum. Plus, posts older than 30 days are closed for commenting.

Definitely an interesting idea. I think I’d be too impatient to have to sift through all of the “Great post!” comments that you’re sure to get. But hopefully you’ll get new readers that will stick around and continue commenting after Halloween

Not only is it a great idea, which it is, but it’s also a good way for your readers to get a quick weather report in the right hand corner of your page. I love that!

Ah, I really wish I had seen this contest post at least a handful of days before today. I somehow doubt I stand much of a chance now. But it’s not too late to try right? I’ll give it my best shot! ^_^
I think I may end up doing something like this as well for my holiday contest coming up…
