I did this since I already have a personal site and didn't see the point in making an about page for myself for my blog since it's attached to the personal site. However, I did make an about page (after a suggestion from a reader) on my book blog and I noticed a marked difference. Just by putting a picture, a little about myself and the books I plan on reading and have I gained a sort of "credibility" with my audience. I was no longer a faceless entity but a person. I started receiving email asking about my tastes and giving suggestions. Then of course the authors started contacting me and sending me their books for review. I figured people did not want to read my long boring story so I added pictures with it to make it easier on them. I have since then taken my about me page down. I don't know why. But, I have been toying with the idea of putting it back up.
