In the latest update to the ongoing water issues the state’s senators have introduced a bill before the senate that would allow the federal government to put a temporary hold on the endangered species act in order to keep water in lake Lanier. The representatives in congress are apparently working on the same thing. Hopefully it won’t be too late.
If you read any of the commentary from any of the people who study this stuff on a regular basis, its not hard to find the problem areas. The Metro Atlanta area’s growth in the past years, plus the fact that states like Alabama and Florida do not have any kind of watering restrictions (while the entire State of Georgia is on an out door watering ban, Alabama can wash their Camaro’s with water from our lakes…). Things need to be done and more planning and implementation needs to happen. We should look at places like Las Vegas and Southern California for guidance and see how they handle water issues before we move forward.
Royal Marshal brought up boortz’s plan to take over Buford dam with the GA National Guard, and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. It might even help bring this country a little focus on the important issues. It would also help if instead of building new homes people went out and looked at the luxury homes already available.
