LED!

There’s a big push lately to move to CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs in the home. Consumer advocate clark howard thinks this will be short lived as we’ll be moving to LED lighting in the near future anyways. There are some applications that are already using LED lights, such as Christmas/Holiday lighting and its got a definate benefit over the traditional lights. According to one study:

a mere 20% shift of American households to LED Christmas lights would save enough power in one holiday season to power 200 homes for an entire year

If thats the case, its a pretty good reason to switch to LED holiday lights right now. The light given off is cooler, brighter and longer lasting than the traditional methods, plus, they’ll help save on energy bills. The LED systems are a little more diverse in how they can be set up and they also come in several cool colors (have you seen the bright blue LEDs?). The technology in LED lighting has come along way and now’s the time to make the switch to LED holiday lights.

Its gonna be a Green Christmas!

But not in the environmental sense. There’s an interesting white paper thats been released recently by NetSol (network solutions) on managing ecommerce solutions and SEO (search engine optimization) just in time for the holiday season. The Ecommerce Guide is a good tool actually, for webmasters looking to make money off their sites. Its full of some pretty good information that you might not have thought of.

Jeff Zimmerman, Vice President, Product Marketing with Network Solutions explains, “There are so many ways that online retailers can really utilize the Internet to drive more shoppers to their stores, and we want to ensure that it is easy to do. From simple tweaks to your site, to implementing a complete online marketing campaign, online retailers must be cognizant as to how to stick out from their competitors–and thus have the most profitable holiday season possible!”

Granted, most of the information in the white paper revolves around NetSol’s own offerings in the SEO and ecommerce arena but the insight it offers can still apply to many sites if you take the time to read it and do your home work. Its hard to know who to trust when it comes to eCommerce Software or Pay Per Click Advertising that its nice to see someone out there trying to help clear things up. Even if it is NetSol
