Bitter Sweet Ending

Well, the Friday Night Firework series at Turner Field is done for the season, unless by some strange miracle of chance the Braves can pull it out and gain a playoff spot. I’m not holding my breath. In March, we were itching for opening day. The start of a new season, 14 shows spread across five months. By the 4th of July, we were in a steady rythm, already counting down the games until last nights game. With the heat of August, we were ready for the season to be done.

Its not that the work is hard or the pay mediocre (because the work is hard, but the pay is worth it), its just that 5 months of watching the Atlanta Braves play ball as they do (not really as one whole team, but as a couple of teams that just happen to be in the same uniform) gets a little tiring. If the Braves were a ball team like they were in the mid-90’s then maybe, we wouldn’t be looking for the end of the season. Instead, we get a team that has all the pieces of the puzzle, they just don’t always know how they fit together (have you seen the atrocity they call a bullpen?).

Anyways, we made it through another season, only one canceled show (due to wind and not rain…) and no one was hurt (thankfully). We’re glad for the break, but come January, we’ll be ready for the season to start. For now, its on to Thrashers (love hockey, live thrashers!), Hawks and a myriad of other events for us.
