With three dogs, two kids (soon to be three) and a wife that tosses and turns most of the night its almost impossible for me to get a solid nights sleep at home (unless I crash on the couch in the basement). The mattress we used to have, I could feel every toss, bump, move and bounce that amy made on her side of the bed while we were sleeping. If she didn’t sleep, I didn’t sleep. Not any more.
Two years ago, we broke down and invested in a sleep number bed (I’m around a 60 - 65) and it was one of the best investments we’ve made. If I need a little firmer mattress one night and a soft pillowly mattress the next, its easy peasy. I just hit the buttons on the remote for my side of the bed and I’m in sleep heaven. Plus, I cannot feel amy as she tosses and turns all night. Which is nice, the only way I know she isn’t sleeping is when I hear the tv click on and see the glow of the LCD through my eyelids.
Yea, I still have the dogs and kids to contend with when it comes to getting a good nights sleep, but at least I’m comfy when I’m trying to catch 40 winks.

So Grace is a fashion maven. She rarely wears anything other than dresses (of which she has her favorites) and if she does wear something other than dresses (like jeans and a t-shirt) its either a pirate shirt or a Disney princess shirt. Lord knows she has enough of them .
While I don’t always like the fact that she prefers kids designer clothing, I do like that it tends to be made a little better than your cheaper clothes. Besides, looking good is somewhat important in life. Right?

Its the second week of school for the little one. Well, the big little one, and She’s star student this week (she’s number two on the roll, so she’s the second star student). This means she has several important tasks this week. She’s line leader, she gets to turn off the lights, she’s in charge of snacks, she gets to bring home Lizzy the Ladybug and some other stuff.
It also happens to be the week that they begin bringing in items that begin with letters of the alphabet, beginning with ‘A’. Obviously, I believe that she should decide on her own what to bring in, however, I want to know what you think she should take.
Oh, and if you select other, you need to leave a comment letting me know what she should take…
Our favorite time of year is Fall. The colors, the smells, the cooler temps, its perfect. We started a tradition last year where we rented a cabin in the mountains of N. Georgia (since its a two hour drive…), rode the scenic railroad and had a good time looking for wildlife off the deck at the cabin. After that weekend, Amy started looking at North Georgia real estate for something we could afford and we came to the sad realization that we could not do it just yet.
We’re still planning on buying that little piece of heaven, but for now we’ll rent (its easier that way). We like the N. Georgia mountains simply because we can get there in a decent amount of time after work on Friday. We don’t have to rush anywhere or make serious plans. Its almost as easy as hopping in the car for a trip to walmart (except we pack bags to go to the woods and not to Walmart).
Do you own a vacation home? If so, want to share it with us ?

In the states, we celebrate Labor day as a salute to the workin’ man. The only problem is that the workin’ man always seems to be stuck working on Labor day. None of the stores or restaraunts are closed. Most everyone else is stuck doing stuff around their house that they didn’t get done during the week (did you see the Home Depot ads for Behr paint on sale? Who wants to spend their holiday painting?). I spent the day finishing the tile job in the kitchen.
The tile is down. It just needs to be grouted. I’ll be the first to admit, I did a little of the work on the job, most of it was done by a friend who owns a flooring company. After watching what goes in to it, the planning and the prep, I feel I could handle tiling my bathrooms now. Which is a good thing.
I did get to spend Saturday working outside in the yard (which still needs more work) and we dropped Lumiere off for two weeks of obedience school, we hope it will help him stop barking (and running in circles…). I also had Fireworks on Friday night.
