Apparently, the Miss Teen USA pageant was held this past weekend. Some of the contestants were undoubtedly attractive but they were a few sandwhiches short of a picnic. Like Miss Teen South Carolina for instance…

If you want to read what she said (it hurts just as much to read it as it does to listen to it..):

“I personally believe the U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh…people out there in our nation don’t have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as South Africa and, uh, the Iraq everywhere like, such as and…I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., err, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our…

The question she was trying to answer:

Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the United States on a world map. Why do you think this is?

Now, in and of itself, that statistic is appalling. EVERY American should be able to locate the US on a map. After all, it does have a somewhat distinct shape. The bigger problem is her answer. She was most likely coached to work Iraq AND South Africa in her answer and she really just should have admitted that she was one of those who couldn’t find the US on a map… I just hope she doesn’t become a school teacher.

Yea, she was apparently on the Today show this morning and her excuse was that she just froze and came up with an answer. She reanswered the question, if I can find it I’ll post it…
