Whats the right age to start teaching kids about money? What are the best ways to impart knowledge on your child that will prevent him from making the same mistakes you did with money? How much is too much when it comes to allowance? I don’t have the answers (thankfully, Grace is a little young for an allowance and Emma would just eat the money…) but the folks at Chores and Allowances have the answers and the low down on teaching kids about money.
Check this site out before you sit down to have that heart to heart about finances.

Well, my kitchen anyways. You should know by now that we’re in the process of remodeling our kitchen. We’ve got the stove and dishwasher switched out. The wallpaper has been taken down and the walls painted. The tile is going in. Next to go are the current set of lights. We have a long fluorescent light (like most houses built in the 80’s and 90’s do) in the kitchen that needs to be replaced. We’re struggling to find a light to put in its place. Do we go with something like this 3 light island light or do we go a more traditional flush mounted route (we’re also looking at adding a pot rack over the island, so that might be too many hanging things.
I like the look of the island light, I just don’t know if it will work where we’re looking to put it as its over an open section of floor and not a table or island. It might look out of place. If I go a flush mounted light, it might not be big enough to cover the spot the other light was. No way to tell until I pull the current light down
.
Either way, I have to point Amy to Shop Premier, one of the best places to order home lights that can class up any room.

Amy and I attended an open house last night at the preschool where Grace will be going starting next Monday. Its at the church, so we’re not worried about the quality of the program, just the fact that she’s already so grown up (of course, she’s been playing with makeup for 10 months now…). Its a little hard to believe that G is already 4 and beginning her school career (I can only hope that she does better than her mother or I ever did). I’m not upset or saddened by the fact that she’ll be going to preschool (three days a week), nor do I think she’s not ready for it. I know she can hold her own. Its just hard to believe that its been four years since she entered our lives.
That time seems to have gone by way too fast and my only concern is that the next 14 years don’t go by as fast. I want to take the time to enjoy my children as they grow up and figure out who they are. I want to be there to help pick them up so they can fall again and learn from their mistakes. Mostly, I want to hear their laughter and see their smiles. I know its not going to be easy (the first four years haven’t been) nor is it going to be all fun, but I want to be there for them.
