Thats right!! Last months contest was such a hit I’ve decided to do it again! However, this time, I’m using a cool new site to help me do it. ContestMachine is an online contest site that will host your contests for you. They offer free and paid accounts with the obvious benefits for paid accounts (more contests per month).
This month, all you have to do is register for the contest through the widget. Thats it. One lucky winner will receive a Pound of Carolina Morning Blend Coffee (whole bean or ground, your choice) and 1000 Entrecard Credits! A second winner will receive 500 EC Credits. How freaking cool is that??
Oh yea, here’s the widget!

Lisa Reviews. Boy does she. She reviews everything. Leapfrog games, donating boats, movies, even T-Shirt designs (gotta say, I like the toast one…) and she does a pretty good job of reviewing things too.
Everything on Lisa Reviews is pretty unique, even the theme (is that storks delivering babies??). A nice bluish, tropical kind of theme thats easy on the eyes. Well laid out and easy to read as well. She’s got a lot of good information packaged well on her site, you’d be remiss not to check it out.

Hell’s Yeah! chrissy over at Dear Chrissy is holding a contest. She calls it 50 for $50. Her reasoning? 50 words for 50 bucks. seems easy enough right? Well, I had to come up with 50 words about the contest, add a couple of links and post it to the site. Hope this makes 50. I will say however, either way you go, you should check out Dear Chrissy, the site design is tres cool (very light and airy) and the writing is witty and (invigorating comes to mind but that just seems wrong…) fun (thats much better). Plus, she has Cool Contests. Even if it is just to boost incoming links and traffic

A couple of weeks ago I talked about online backup solutions. Well, I want to talk about one I missed, IDrive-E. IDrive is another contender in the online backup market, however, these guys seem to have a good thing on their hands. They offer a free and a pro version, with the free version limiting you to 2gb of storage space and the unlimited version promises unlimited storage for less than $50 a year. At that price, its cheaper than buying cd’s or dvd’s and you can access it anywhere.
The IDrive solution allows for drag and drop backups as well as scheduled “hands free” backups, a nice features for those of us who prefer set it up and forget it solutions when it comes to backups. After all, once its backed up, many of us forget about it in the first place right?
It took me all of 5 minutes to signup for the free account, download their software (most of the online backup systems require some kind of software download), set it up and use it. The setup automagically setup an auto backup of my documents folder for 9pm every night, which is nice, I don’t have to think about it, just drop it and go.
I might upgrade to the proversion, just so I can backup my wifes photo collection (we lost half a year’s worth of digital pictures when the computer crashed…), but I want to see how well it works. However, for a cheap and easy back up solution, the price is right on iDrive.

So we’re remodeling the kitchen. More accurately, I’m remodeling the kitchen with some help from a couple of buddies and the direction of my wife. In the past week, we’ve painted it, gotten more than half the floor retiled and ordered a new stove and dishwasher (which I’m installing myself in a couple of hours…).
I have to say, its coming together better than I thought it would and I’ll have more photos online shortly about the whole process. It started two weeks ago as an idea “We should have the wall paper in the kitchen removed and the kitchen painted while the girls are out of town”. Famous. Last. Words. Since then, we’ve gone on to do the flooring and the appliances (except the fridge, the one we have is working ok and we have to find a good compromise for the one we want…).
The only thing I haven’t done myself (or helped with so far) is the wallpaper removal and the painting (painting interior is usually something I like to do). Jose’s Painting did that for us this time, they could do it quicker and cleaner than I could and they did. Did a pretty good job of it too. One of my friends own’s a flooring company and has been talking for ever about helping me tile the kitchen, so I got him to make good on the threat. We’ve been working on the floor since Saturday and I’m becoming a some what competent tile layer (despite what my wife says…).
The kitchen looks good and its coming together well, next will be countertops… but we have to decide on those.

One of the perks about owning a home is that I get to buy tools every so often for projects that need to be done. Earlier in the year, we had a massive (MASSIVE) deck built. With the beags (dogs) out there every day, the deck is slowly turning red (from that good ‘ole Georgia clay) and is going to need washing soon, so I think my next purchase will be a pressure washer. The nice thing about them is that I can use them to clean the deck, windows, siding, tree house, cars, driveway, walkway, mailbox, dogs, garage… you name it I can clean it with a pressure washer.
Dad has one that I use every so often, but when I was working at HomeDepot, I upsold him to a model that will clean everything including the kitchen sink (which we’re going to replace soon anyways). I don’t think I need one that powerful but you never know. The plus side of the smaller electric models is that Amy could use it with out too much worry. Something to consider when purchasing a pressure washer isn’t it?
